Stockholm, Sweden & Tokyo, Japan, November 1, 2018 – NEC Corporation and NEC Scandinavia AB announced today the successful expansion of broadband availability in Mossberg, Sweden, through the installation of the iPASOLINK EX-Advanced for Alingsås Energi, a regional supplier of energy and infrastructure services. This marks the first time that a 10Gbps ultra-high speed wireless point-to-point link with a millimeter wave frequency band of 80GHz has been deployed in Sweden.
As a municipally-owned energy company in Alingsås, Sweden, Alingsås Energi focuses on contributing to the municipality's goal of developing a sustainable society. As a result of this project, which was carried out in cooperation with Vixor & Co AB, a leading wireless communications provider, Alingsås Energi was able to rapidly expand the provision of broadband availability in the rural and suburban area of Mossberg by deploying iPASOLINK EX-Advanced to connect to an existing optical backbone.
"The planning, digging and installation that is needed for traditional fiber cables requires both a great deal of time and expensive resources," said Kristian Nilsson, Network Manager at Alingsås Energi. "Therefore, we chose NEC's wireless broadband connection via the iPASOLINK EX-Advanced microwave link. This proven solution has quickly provided the residents of Mossberg with a strong and reliable broadband connection that also promises to meet our future needs with a link capacity of 10Gbps, the first such powerful wireless broadband connection in Sweden."
